Garrison Brothers bourbon begins with a sweet mash of premium #1 panhandle white corn, soft red winter wheat from local farms, and two row barley. The resulting “white dog” is heat-forged by the Texas sun, for a minimum of three years in custom made barrels. Thicker staves are required to withstand the pressure created by the temperature swings in their outdoor rickhouse; much of the very first batch of Garrison Brothers was lost when standard barrels buckled under the strain. After maturing in this harsh environment, the resulting bourbon has a rich and delicious flavor without the “bite”.
In addition to their small batch handcrafted Texas straight bourbon, Garrison Brothers offers several unique expressions – each an interesting variation of their signature flavor profile. Their popular single barrel program invites you to sample straight from the barrel until you find the one you can’t live without. Balmorhea is a double-barreled bourbon, which was named Jim Murray’s 2019 American Micro Whiskey of the Year. Estacado features a Llano Estacado Winery Texas port wine finish, and Honey Dew is a lighter, sweeter expression infused with Burleson’s Honey. Once a year, they select their favorite barrels and release an uncut, unfiltered expression named Cowboy Bourbon – rich, intense, beautifully presented, each vintage limited and unique. Salud!
